Peter Lendermann, D-SIMLAB Chief Business Development Officer, will chair a panel discussion about ‘Scheduling and Simulation in Wafer Fabs: Competitors, Independent Players or Amplifiers?’ at the upcoming Winter Simulation Conference, to be held during 13-16 December 2020 in Orlando FL, USA. The panel will be joined by renowned experts from Georgia Institute of Technology (USA), the University of Hagen (Germany), the École des Mines de Saint-Étienne (France), and three major Semiconductor Manufacturing companies.
The panel will discuss the inherent conflict between the application of (Discrete-Event) Simulation and Scheduling techniques to manage and optimise capacity and material flow in Semiconductor Frontend Manufacturing (wafer fabrication), Advantages and shortcomings of the respective techniques will be described and debated, with a specific focus on challenges arising from the recent and anticipated future evolution of the nature of such manufacturing environments, and suggest solution approaches as well as research issues that need to be addressed.
