“To Enhance and Optimise Material Flow and Capacity Planning in Semiconductor Frontend Manufacturing: Simulate or Schedule?” – D-SIMLAB will will present at the European Advanced Process Control and Manufacturing Process (apc|m) Conference on 13/14 April 2021

The presentation will describe how the gap between tactical long-term simulation and operational scheduling and dispatching in Semiconductor Manufacturing can be closed through a simulation-based WIP Management approach as an additional decision layer, and how all three decision layers can be integrated into one single framework for modelling, data management, analysis, enhancement and optimisation of material flow, illustrated through real-fab examples indicating the kind of benefits that can be achieved:

  • On the operational level: Enhancement of batching efficiency at a Mercury cleaning equipment group or increase of the number of wafers that can be processed within critical time window in a Wet Bench – Diffusion – Diffusion area,
  • On the tactical level: Reduction of cycle time in a wafer test equipment group through better synchronisation of Preventive Maintenance timing with material flow,
  • On the strategic level: Increase of percentage of priority lots that can be run in the fab without having to compromise on cycle time for regular lots.
